Paula Nozzari (drums & perc)

Paula Nozzari has been a drummer for more than 20 years, and is especially well known in the south of Brazil where she was born (Porto Alegre - RS). She has been part of bands like Cidadão Quem, DeFalla, Penelope, and now is a member of the duo Canja Rave while living in Berlin.

Daniel Lima (number 1 percussionist from OSPA) and Marcio Bahia (Hermeto Pascoal) were her drum teachers. She has performed with the Symphonic Orquestra of Porto Alegre (OSPA) playing percussion instruments. Also Paula Nozzari has recorded 12 studio albums participating in all the artistic creation of drum parts and songwriting original material, and participated in many compilations with many artists, and was part of Warner Music casting.


She recorded in Brazil, in the United States and in Germany with renowned producers like Alvaro Alencar (winner of 10 Grammys: Maria Rita, Lenine, Skank, Mutantes, Gilberto Gil), legendary Tom Capone (Maria Rita, Skank, Marisa Monte, Gilberto Gil, O Rappa), Carlos Eduardo Miranda (Raimundos, CSS, and jury of "Idolos" e "Astros" from Brazil), and Jim Diamond from Detroit (MI), United States (2 first albums of The White Stripes).


Paula was a drum teacher in music schools in Porto Alegre and Rio de Janeiro and did a large quantity of workshops all over Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. She graduated in Music Therapy in 2007 - studying at Conservatório Brasileiro de Música do Rio de Janeiro and Instituto Superior de Música de São Leopoldo.


Paula Nozzari has featured 4 times in the magazine Modern Drummer Brasil always praised by the specialized press, where also her article "A Bateria na Musicoterapia" was published (Drums in Music Therapy). She was endorsed by RMV (drums), Orion Cymbals, Liverpool (drumsticks) for many consecutive years being part of national and international catalogs of each of these brands.


Paula performed in important festivals alongside with bands like The Foo Fighters, Cake, The Black Crowes, Beck and many others: Rock in Rio (Rio de Janeiro, RJ - 2001), Festival de Verão de Salvador (Salvador, BA - 2001), Rec Beat (Recife, PE - 2006), South by Southwest (Austin, Texas - 2009, 2010), DFEST (Tulsa, Oklahoma - 2009), Liverpool Sound City (Liverpool, UK - 2009, 2011) and United Islands (Prague, CZ - 2011). Countries where she has toured around the world include: Brazil (10 states), the United States (+30 states), Canada, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, England, Spain, Czech Republic, Norway and Germany.
